My Biggest Disappointment Ever

"You can not enter the examination room," said the receptionist ." I was stunned when I heard the statement made by the lady at the reception of the examination hall. I was not ready to take her response, so I asked, What? My voice amplified as I re-stated my question. Instead of getting a response, the receptionist asked me to wait. While waiting, my heart sank, and I felt like my dreams were falling apart. As her words were filtering down, I inferred, I may miss this opportunity. However, I mustered the courage to face the adverse situation, now I asked hesitantly," why can't I take the test?"   My passion for becoming a certified counselor in the USA was not new. As an educator & counselor, my interactions with students who struggle in reading are disadvantageous for their self-esteem. I have observed cases where students have overcome when evidence-based interventions are provided at the right age. But the question is how to provide timely diagnosis and evidence-based interventions to overcome Dyslexia. According to Dr. Shaywitz," One in five American children has trouble reading." In her statement to the House of Representatives, Dr. Shaywitz mentioned that despite high-quality scientific knowledge of Dyslexia being available, that could turn around the reading difficulties, but it is not being put into policy and practice. It is not that children are failing because we do not have a solution to the problem, but they are falling due to an action gap.
